Tabung Haji RCI: Former Minister Expected to Be Charged on Monday

KUALA LUMPUR: A former minister is expected to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court here on Monday.

The matter was announced by the MACC in a statement here on Sunday.

It is understood that the charge is related to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation involving the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji.

Previously, the MACC detained a man in his 60s to assist investigations under Section 16(a)(a) of the MACC Act 2009, related to the offence of soliciting or receiving bribes as an inducement or reward in a matter.

The suspect was detained on 1 September after appearing at the MACC headquarters to give a statement.

The detention is related to investigations involving a hotel lease in Saudi Arabia as well as issues raised in the RCI report concerning Tabung Haji.

The suspect was previously remanded for five days until 6 September before the remand period was extended by another two days.
