Do Not Amass Wealth While the People Are Struggling – Sultan of Selangor

SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, expressed his concern that while the people are struggling with hardship, there are still some parties enjoying wealth gained through betrayed trust and manipulated justice.

His Majesty decreed that this state of oppression occurs when power is no longer guided by trustworthiness, but instead is driven by greed.

“Let us never think that those who act oppressively will escape the judgment of Allah SWT.

“The truth is that Allah SWT deliberately delays punishment upon the oppressors so that they may feel how terrible and fearsome Allah’s wrath is,” said His Majesty.

His Majesty said this after attending the Yasin Recitation, Prayer of Safety and Tahlil ceremony in conjunction with the 69th Selangor State-level Independence Day celebration at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here on Friday.

Also accompanying His Majesty were the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, and the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

His Majesty also listened to the Friday sermon titled ‘Freedom from the Shackles of Greed’ which called on Muslims to appreciate the meaning of independence by freeing themselves from lust, greed and betrayal.

His Majesty decreed that true independence begins with every individual’s ability to control themselves from things that can ruin life and society.

His Majesty also reminded that the signs of life in the end times are becoming increasingly clear, including when trust is managed by those who are unqualified and trust is betrayed for self-interest.

In this regard, His Majesty asked Muslims to stay away from betraying trust because such acts can destroy trust and remove blessings in community life.

His Majesty decreed that every individual entrusted with managing the wealth and interests of the people, including those given authority to manage public funds, bear a great responsibility before Allah.

“Indeed, managing public funds with trustworthiness is a sign of our love for the people and the nation.

“Do not let wealth that should benefit the people be misappropriated for personal gain,” His Majesty stressed.

His Majesty decreed that every member of society must fulfil the trust given with full honesty, even if that trust is small, because it is the foundation of well-being and true independence.

“The guilty must be punished, the trustworthy must be supported, and good systems must continue to be improved from time to time,” said His Majesty.
