PM Anwar Receives Royal Honour From Brunei Ruler

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was today conferred the Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati (D.K.) by the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

The award, the second highest honour in Brunei, carries the title Dato Laila Utama.

The investiture ceremony was held during a meeting at Cheradi Laila Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman, here, witnessed by the Crown Prince of Brunei, Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah.

Also present were foreign minister Mohamad Hasan; investment, trade and industry minister Johari Abdul Ghani; Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg; and Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor.

Earlier, Anwar and the Malaysian delegation arrived at Istana Nurul Iman at about 11am.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Anwar are also expected to witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a disaster management cooperation.

Anwar arrived here yesterday for a two-day working visit to attend the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC-27) between Malaysia and Brunei.
