KUALA LUMPUR: The government will conduct an online Ihsan Rahmah 9.9 Sale on September 9 in conjunction with the 2026 Malaysia Day celebration to enable more people to enjoy essential goods at more affordable prices.

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the initiative is part of the government’s efforts to expand the reach of the Rahmah Sale programme through digital platforms, in line with the development of the economy and online trade.

He said the implementation of the virtual sale also takes inspiration from the success of various local e-commerce platforms that help small entrepreneurs and make it easier for the public to obtain essential goods.

“Taking the spirit of independence, Malaysia Day and initiatives implemented in the e-commerce sector, I want us to align this with the organisation of the online Ihsan Rahmah 9.9 Sale,” he said.

He said this when delivering his speech at the officiating of the Technolog Summit Malaysia 2026 here, on Thursday.

According to Anwar, the programme will be implemented on a large scale with the involvement of various government agencies and digital platforms to ensure its benefits can be enjoyed by the people nationwide.

In that regard, he wants promotions and publicity regarding the programme to be enhanced so that more consumers and local entrepreneurs can participate.

The Rahmah Sale programme, led by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), offers various daily necessities at prices between 10 to 30 percent lower than market prices.

Anwar said the implementation of the online edition reflects the government’s commitment to leverage digital technology to expand public access to cost-of-living relief initiatives.
