JPS Staff Member Who Died After Scarf Got Caught in Roller to Be Buried Tonight

SHAH ALAM: The remains of Sabak Bernam Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) staff member, Selaton Nuri, 55, who died after her scarf got caught in a water gate roller, are expected to be buried tonight.

The deceased’s son, Muhammad Hafiz Basar, 23, said his mother’s remains are currently at Sungai Buloh Hospital (HSB) for a post-mortem process before being taken home to Bagan Terap.

“Earlier, the remains were at Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Hospital (HTAJ) Sabak Bernam and were brought to HSB around 10.30 am today.

“God willing, after the post-mortem is completed, the remains will be taken to Al-Mujahiddin Mosque, Bagan Terap Town for funeral prayers and buried at the Kampung Bagan Terap Islamic Cemetery after the Isyak prayer,” he said, as reported by Berita Harian.

The deceased leaves behind a husband, Basar Maslan, 63, and six children aged between 23 and 36.

Previously, media reported that the incident occurred when the deceased, who worked as a water gate keeper, was closing the water gate following high tide conditions.

Sabak Bernam District Police Chief, Superintendent Md Yusof Ahmad said police received a report regarding the incident at approximately 4 pm and the case has been classified as sudden death.
