Tanker Lorry Crushes Car: Mother And 12-Year-Old Child Confirmed Burnt To Death

Temerloh: A woman and her child were burnt to death due to an accident involving a car and a tanker lorry on Jalan Temerloh-Triang, near Kampung Lebak, here, today.

The victims who died in the accident at 4 pm are Nur Fatima Abdullah, 39, and her son Muhamad Fattah Aisy Nuafal Saifulnizam, 12.

Temerloh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron, said that at the time of the incident, the car occupied by the mother and child was reported to be travelling from Jerantut to Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

According to him, their car was crushed by a tanker lorry carrying approximately 32,000 litres of petrol and diesel.

“The tanker lorry was travelling from Bera to Temerloh and upon arriving at the scene, the vehicle skidded and overturned, crushing the car occupied by the mother and child.

“As a result of the accident, the car and tanker lorry caught fire, causing the mother and child to be burnt to death.

“Although the victims’ family has come forward to give statements to the police, confirmation of their identities will be conducted through DNA comparison with family members,” he said in a statement tonight.

Mohd Nasyim said that the 37-year-old tanker lorry driver involved in the crash only sustained minor injuries.

The bodies of the mother and child were sent to Hospital Sultan Ahmad Shah, here, for further action.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Director of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Pahang, Mohd Salahuddin Isa said, his department received a report regarding the accident at 4.08 pm.

According to him, a total of 11 personnel from the Bukit Angin and Temerloh Fire and Rescue Stations (BBP) rushed to the scene.

“Upon arrival at the scene, both vehicles were found to be burning and the fire department took more than two hours to put out the fire,” he said.
