Helicopter Destroyed by Fire at MRO Hangar of Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport

KUALA LUMPUR: A helicopter was destroyed by fire in an incident at the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service hangar at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang, midday today, believed to have been caused by a fire that occurred near the fuel tank.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Assistant Director, Ashrul Riezal Asbar, in a statement, informed that his department received an emergency call at 12.30 pm, before fire engines from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the scene.
“All four victims, consisting of Ukrainian men, are in a safe condition, while one of the victims sustained minor injuries due to being hit by aircraft debris.
“A total of five JBPM personnel and one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle were deployed to the location for firefighting operations.
“Firefighting efforts were also carried out by the Airport Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS) team together with the on-duty firemen,” according to the statement.
