Musa Mohamad, the ex-education minister, was laid to rest
PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Musa Mohamad, a former minister of education, was laid to rest in Kota Damansara’s Section 9 Muslim cemetery after passing away on Saturday.
His son-in-law, Mohd Nordin Mat Sah, said funeral prayers after his remains were taken to the mosque in Kota Damansara for washing and shrouding.
According to Bernama, Mohd Nordin thanked everyone who helped with the burial arrangements.
Due to multiple myeloma, or blood cancer, Musa, 81, passed away at a private medical facility here on Saturday at 7:12 p.m.
From 1999 until 2004, he was the first non-politician to serve as Minister of Education.
Musa formerly served as Universiti Sains Malaysia’s vice-chancellor.
He has served in a number of other significant capacities, such as chairman of Multimedia University, head of the UCSI University Council, and president of the International Organisation of Ministers of Education from 2001 to 2003.
