Not Yet Time To Dissolve Parliament, Prioritise Stability

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that the government still has a mandate to administer the country and that the time has not yet come for Parliament to be dissolved.

He said the government’s current priority is to ensure that political stability and economic growth continue to be maintained amid a world facing uncertainty.

According to him, the people also want the government to focus on efforts to revive the economy rather than engaging in politics all the time.

“I believe the people also want stability, the people also want the economy to grow, and the people also want us not to be politicking all the time.

“Give us time, we have a mandate. When the election comes, then we will battle,” he said.

He said this in response to a supplementary question from Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) on whether the government plans to dissolve Parliament to obtain a new mandate in the near future.

Anwar also reminded all parties not to be overly confident of their political positions, as the final decision lies in the hands of the people.
