Syed Saddiq Arrives For Final Appeal Decision

PUTRAJAYA: Muar Member of Parliament, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman arrived at the Palace of Justice here at approximately 8.55 am today to hear the prosecution’s final appeal decision regarding his conviction on four charges involving Angkatan Bersatu Anak Muda (ARMADA) funds.

He, who was dressed in a white shirt with a black suit, managed to smile and wave to the media practitioners upon arrival, accompanied by family members and friends.

Also seen was his brother, Syed Abdullah, better known as ‘Spacedollah’, as well as actress and singer Bella Astillah, who is also his fiancée.

The Federal Court today will determine whether Syed Saddiq remains a free man or is reconvicted on charges of criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of property and money laundering.

The decision is scheduled after proceedings on June 30 were postponed due to one of the three judges being on sick leave.

Should the prosecution’s final appeal be allowed, Syed Saddiq will serve a seven-year prison sentence.

In addition, he also faces an additional four-year prison sentence if he fails to pay the RM10 million fine imposed by the High Court.

The three-member Federal Court panel comprising Court of Appeal President, Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Jais; Justice Datuk Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali and Justice Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah is expected to deliver its decision on Syed Saddiq, who is also a former Youth and Sports Minister, at 9 am.
