‘Don’t Touch My Wife And Child, Just Wait For The Lawsuit Letter To Arrive’

PETALING JAYA: Still fresh in his memory, influencer Ubai MZ admitted to having faced one of the most painful experiences when he became a victim of defamation just one week after tying the knot with singer Shila Amzah.

Ubai, whose real name is Muhammad Ubaidillah Mohd. Zulkefli, 28, said that the incident deeply hurt him when his and his wife’s photograph was used as ‘clickbait’ in a fake article claiming that they had already divorced, which drew widespread criticism.

“The worst I experienced was one week after getting married. A headline came out saying Shila Amzah was divorced, but they used our picture together.

“When people clicked on the link, it was actually an old article. Unfortunately, many immediately criticised in the comment section without reading the content first.

“There were even comments like, ‘I told you that Ubai kid is stupid’ and ‘Shila is stubborn’. They didn’t even read the article,” he said via his audio broadcast, Ubai Sentral.

The father of one added that at first he was so angry that he thought about taking legal action, but his wife was the calmest person who advised him to be patient and leave everything to God.

“At that time, I was really emotional. I felt like suing them.

“But my wife persuaded me. She said, ‘It’s okay, dear, just let it go.’

“Shila said, if things like this happen, just leave it to God. Let them realise how difficult it is when they still have slander against others that has not been resolved,” he said.

At the same time, Ubai stressed that he does not mind being the target of criticism, but warned not to drag his wife and child into any defamation.

“Write anything you want about me. But if one day I lose my patience, don’t ever touch my wife and child.

“Just wait for the lawsuit letter to arrive,” he firmly said.

The sharing drew various reactions from netizens, with most agreeing that people should verify the validity of news before leaving comments.

For the record, Ubai and Shila tied the knot on 4 August 2023 and were blessed with a baby girl, Rhea Akira, who is now two years old.
