JOHOR BAHRU: The people of Johor need leaders and representatives who are wise in assessing priorities, brave in making decisions, and truly understand the pulse of the people, said Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said that the coalition will continue to carry the people’s voice, defend the state’s interests, and drive Johor to become more advanced and great for all.

“Johor Forward. Vote HOPE,” Anwar said via a video clip on his official Facebook account in conjunction with the 16th Johor State Election (PRN).

The Prime Minister also urged the PH machinery to work hard to ensure victory for the party’s candidates in this state election.

“We want to elect representatives and leaders who represent the interests of the people in Johor, Malaysians, Malays, Chinese, Indians work together, build this nation, lift this state to greatness,” he said.

Anwar began PH’s first day of campaigning in Johor by attending seven programmes in several areas, to engage with the people and give support to the coalition’s candidates.

The programmes included meet-and-greet sessions with the people, talks, friendly gatherings, and programmes with local communities, as an effort to strengthen voter support for PH leading up to polling day.

In this state election, PH is fielding candidates in all 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats, comprising 20 PKR candidates, 19 Amanah candidates, and 17 DAP candidates.

Overall, the Johor State Election sees 172 candidates contesting for 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats.

Polling day is set on 11 July, while 7 July is the date for early voting.
