TAIPING: The woman who was reported missing after leaving home for a job interview on June 16 has finally contacted the police to inform them that she is safe.

Acting Taiping District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Ariffridzuan Ezahar, said Nor Afiza Zainuddin, 41, informed him that she is healthy and only needs some time to calm herself down.

“The police managed to speak with Nor Afiza Zainuddin, who informed us that she is in good health and needs some time to compose herself before returning to Taiping to meet her family and provide a statement to the police.

“However, she did not disclose her current whereabouts,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Nor Afiza’s elder sister, who declined to be named, said the family was only informed of the development after her sister contacted the police.

“She only said she is fine and needs time to calm down. So far, she has not contacted any family members. I also do not know whether she will return to Taiping anytime soon because she has only been in contact with the police,” she said.

Meanwhile, their younger brother, Ahmad Zulhilmi, 34, said the entire family hopes Nor Afiza will return home soon.

He said Nor Afiza’s two children often ask about their mother, but the family has had to divert their attention to keep them calm.

Earlier, media reported that Nor Afiza was reported missing after leaving her family home in Taiping on June 16 to attend an interview session at a hotel in Kuala Kangsar before she could not be traced.
