Kosmo! yesterday reported that a childcare provider was arrested by police after an 11-month-old baby under her care died while receiving treatment at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB), Alor Setar.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said his department received a report regarding an incident in which a baby girl was found unconscious after falling from a chair while being fed by her childcare provider.
The report was made by the baby’s father after he received a call from the childcare provider at around 2.15 p.m. last Monday, informing him of the incident.
The baby, who was initially unconscious, was first taken to a private hospital where her parents work, here, but was transferred to HSB on Tuesday as she remained unconscious, before she was confirmed dead yesterday.
Besides the deceased baby, the woman is understood to have also been caring for another baby at her home since she started working as a childcare provider nearly a year ago.
