Consequences of Throwing a Brick, Damaging a Police Vehicle

KUALA LUMPUR – A foreign man, believed to be a homeless individual, was arrested after allegedly throwing a brick that damaged a police vehicle in front of a hotel along Jalan Hang Lekiu here on Wednesday.

Dang Wangi Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent Nuzulan Mohd Din said the suspect, aged in his 40s, was detained at the scene with the help of members of the public at around 11.57 p.m.

“Preliminary investigations found that the suspect, who is believed to be suffering from health issues, threw an object believed to be a brick at a police vehicle, causing damage,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Nuzulan said the suspect has been remanded for three days starting Thursday until Saturday to assist with the investigation.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief, as well as Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
