BATU PAHAT – There are no longer any abandoned projects within the Parit Yaani state constituency following the completion of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Suria Jaya, whose construction had been stalled since 2008 before works resumed in 2023.

Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Parit Yaani state constituency, Datuk Najib Samuri, said that around 200 Form One and Form Two students will become the first intake at the school beginning September 7 this year.

He said the school will be fully operational starting January next year, 2026, accommodating up to 1,200 students with 180 teachers and administrative staff.

According to him, the school’s full operation will benefit students living around Parit Yaani, Sri Medan, and Yong Peng.

“Also successfully completed is Jalan Tan Sri Mohamad, which connects Peserai to Parit Jalil over a distance of 7.2 kilometres and was opened to the public in December 2025.

“The road project was abandoned during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 before construction resumed in 2023,” he told reporters today.

Najib added that with these achievements, the promise to resolve both abandoned projects made during the 15th Johor State Election (PRN) in 2022 has now been fulfilled.

“It was also announced that Jalan Panchor (Parit Salleh) has officially been renamed Jalan Kampung Beroleh effective February 10 this year,” he said.
