SHAH ALAM – A total of 1,012 tenants of Rumah Smart Sewa in Selangor can submit applications for a moratorium starting today for a three-month exemption on rental payments.
Selangor Housing Executive Councillor, Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said applications can be made by filling out special forms provided at the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) office or Selangor Housing and Property Sdn. Bhd. (PHSSB).
“Each applicant must state the reason for the moratorium application. LPHS and PHSSB will review and assess every application submitted.
“If successful, the moratorium will take effect starting next month. This means if the application is made in June and approved, the moratorium will come into force in July,” he said when met at the lobby of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.
He explained that the moratorium period is set for three months, and after that period ends, tenants must resume rental payments as usual.
“Tenants are also given the option to repay the moratorium arrears at any time.
“If they do not pay the moratorium arrears, we will deduct that three-month rental amount from the rental deposit that we refund to them (which is 30 percent of the total monthly rental payment),” he said.
