SHAH ALAM : The Selangor government is offering an assessment tax rebate of up to 100 per cent for the installation of solar panel roofs in residential areas as a measure to encourage the public to benefit from green and sustainable technology.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the incentive also covers the installation of rainwater harvesting systems, recycling processes, food waste composting systems as well as electric vehicle charging units.

According to him, this effort is in line with the State Government’s commitment to accelerate the transition towards low-carbon development and achieve the state’s carbon-neutral goal in the future.

“Each local authority (PBT) will provide funds ranging from RM100,000, RM200,000 and RM1.5 million according to the levels of District Councils, Municipal Councils and City Councils.

“This is for the benefit of the people according to the application process which will be coordinated and simplified for matters at the PBT level,” he said.

He said this when tabling the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package Phase 2 at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly Special Sitting at the Annex Hall, earlier today.

According to him, the global supply crisis has highlighted the importance for Selangor to immediately shift towards clean and sustainable energy industries.

“Nevertheless, the State Government also understands that cost factors can be a constraint for the people of Selangor to install these facilities in their homes,” he said.

Earlier, Amirudin when tabling the package informed that the State Government had allocated RM355.06 million through the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package Phase 1 and Phase 2 to face the supply crisis following the conflict in West Asia.

He said of that amount, RM145.8 million was allocated for Phase 1, which is currently being implemented through seven initiatives.

According to him, another RM209.26 million was allocated for Phase 2, which encompasses 15 new initiatives announced today.
