KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says that the current level of relations between Malaysia and Turkey, a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, continues to be an important place to build cooperation in a wide range of strategic areas.
The Prime Minister said that this covers people-to-people ties, trade and investment, technology, and the defence industry. “May the close ties between Malaysia and Turkey continue to grow for peace, stability in the region, and prosperity that helps the people of both countries,” he wrote on Facebook on May 18.
Before, Anwar got a goodbye call from Emir Salim Yuksel, Turkey’s ambassador to Malaysia.
The Prime Minister and the ambassador talked about current issues in the area and around the world, as well as ongoing efforts to make the ties between the two countries stronger. “I also told him how much I appreciated Emir Salim’s role and contributions during his service in strengthening the friendship and bilateral relations between Malaysia and Turkey, which have been based on mutual respect and shared benefit for a long time,” he said.-Bernama
