Thai PM Orders Comprehensive Investigation into Deadly Bangkok Train-Bus Collision

BANGKOK: Thai authorities will carry out a full investigation into the cause of a deadly train-bus collision in Bangkok, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Saturday night while visiting the scene of the accident.

The collision occurred at around 3:40 p.m. local time when a train traveling from Chachoengsao Province to Bang Sue in Bangkok crashed into a bus at a railway crossing in the city center. The impact triggered a fire, with several cars and motorcycles also involved.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames and conduct emergency operations. Authorities confirmed that the fire has been completely put out, and all injured victims have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

According to the Thai Ministry of Transport, the accident resulted in eight deaths and 32 injuries. All those who died were passengers on the bus.

Officials also reported that a Chinese citizen who was slightly injured in the incident has received treatment and has been safely discharged from the hospital.

Prime Minister Anutin said the government will ensure a thorough investigation into the incident and provide assistance to those injured and the families of the victims.
