KUALA LUMPUR: One of the attendants of the Acting Sultan of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim is being investigated after allegedly assaulting a disabled man at a hotel here yesterday.

“Investigation papers have been opened under Section 323 (for intentionally causing injury),” said Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director Datuk Seri Shuhaily Zain, reported FMT.

“There have been no arrests yet, so we don’t know why the man was attacked. Even the disabled man who made the report was not sure why he was attacked.”

When asked if the complainant was still being treated in hospital, Shuhaily said, he refused to comment.

Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a maximum prison sentence of one year, a fine of RM2,000 or both if convicted.

In another development, Shuhaily also said that since the beginning of this month, the police have arrested 21 members of a group known as the ‘TR Gang’, which consists of five different groups.

“The investigation found that the TR Gang consisted of Gang 08, Gang 18, Gang 21, Gang 24 and Gang 36,” he said.

He said 20 of those arrested will be charged at the Shah Alam Court today, while one member is currently undergoing treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

“They will be charged according to Section 130 V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of between five and 20 years if convicted,” he said.

According to Shuhaily, about 10 other individuals linked to the group are still at large and are actively being hunted by the police.

Asked about the period of intelligence that led to the arrest, Shuhaily said it took two years due to the involvement of various gangster gangs.
