Polls in Negri Sembilan state are not going to happen soon, says PM

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says that a state election in Negri Sembilan is not likely at this time, even though there is still a lot of political uncertainty in the state.

When asked if elections could be held, the head of Pakatan Harapan said that the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, would have to decide if the state assembly should be dissolved. Not likely (for an election in a state). He told reporters this after a secret meeting with Huawei’s top leaders on Monday (April 27). “The decision depends on the Tuanku and, of course, the assembly’s sitting schedule.”
Anwar was at the opening event for the Huawei AI Lab and Innovation Center earlier.
He said that new information about the government of Negri Sembilan would be released at the right time.
It was said that Negri Sembilan Barisan Nasional had stopped supporting the government of the state, which is led by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, the head of Umno in the state, said that all 14 Umno assemblymen in the state had lost faith in Aminuddin’s leadership because of how he handled the state royal issue.

He said that the royal situation in the state made Barisan sad.
There are 28 places in the state assembly. Fourteen are held by Barisan, 17 by Pakatan Harapan, and five by Perikatan Nasional.
Aminuddin said that he would keep doing his job as Mentri Besar of Negri Sembilan for now.
On April 19, the four Undang agreed to remove Tuanku Muhriz because he had been bad. This was the start of the state’s royal crisis.

There is an Undang of Sungei Ujong named Datuk Mubarak Dohak, an Undang of Jelebu named Maarof Mat Rashad, an Undang of Johol named Muhammed Abdullah, and an Undang of Rembau named Abdul Rahim Yasin. You can read about all four of them here.
