Cyclone Remal Touches Down on Bangladesh’s Coast

PUTRAJAYA: Cyclone Remal made landfall between the shores of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India on Sunday (May 26). Wisma Putra is actively following the effects of the cyclone through the Malaysian high commissions in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and New Delhi, India.

Malaysians residing in the impacted areas are strongly encouraged to maintain vigilance, stay informed, and heed the directives and guidelines issued by the local authorities, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, May 28.

The statement also stated that the Foreign Ministry will make every effort to notify the public of any current developments.

Millions of people were impacted by the tropical cyclone, which claimed at least 10 lives in Bangladesh’s coastal areas and another two in India.

In addition to causing damage to houses in the impacted areas, the storm also interfered with aviation and telecommunication services.
