KUANTAN, Feb 17: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has expressed profound grief and disappointment following a tragic family murder incident in Cherating earlier today.

In a statement shared on the Pahang Sultanate’s official Facebook page, His Royal Highness said the incident was deeply shocking and should never have happened, particularly as it involved the loss of an entire family.

“This should not happen, and as the Sovereign, I advise the people to keep a watchful eye on those who exhibit such tendencies; it must not be ignored,” the Sultan said.

He also urged the public to remain vigilant and attentive to behavioral changes among family members, friends, and individuals around them, warning that early signs of troubling behavior should not be taken lightly to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

His Royal Highness further invited the people of Pahang and Malaysians in general to recite Al-Fatihah for the victims who perished in the heartbreaking incident.

According to police, the tragedy occurred at around 7:00 am, involving a couple and their two young daughters, aged three and four, who were found in a bedroom at their home. A 55-year-old woman, the mother of the 32-year-old man, was also found dead in the kitchen area.

Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the 32-year-old man is believed to have attacked his wife, mother, and two children with a sharp weapon, suspected to be a knife, before turning the weapon on himself. He was also found dead at the scene.

Authorities are continuing investigations into the incident.
