SEPANG: Police issued 33 summonses and referred six individuals for rehabilitation during a crime prevention operation carried out at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2 on Saturday.

Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ravi Munusamy said the joint operation, known as Ops Ehsan, was aimed at maintaining public safety and order within the airport premises.

He said the operation focused on addressing social problems and criminal activities, particularly involving vagrants and beggars suspected of drug abuse, as well as individuals with prior criminal records who could pose security risks in the high-traffic airport environment.

During the operation, police inspected 114 individuals and 82 vehicles around both terminals, resulting in 33 summonses for various traffic-related offenses.

In addition, six individuals were handed over to the Sepang Social Welfare Office for rehabilitation and welfare assistance. Police also arrested a male Chinese national under the Immigration Act for overstaying his social visit pass.

“Two individuals were also referred to the hospital for further mental health examinations,” ACP Ravi said.

He added that similar preventive operations would continue to be conducted to ensure KLIA remains a safe and orderly gateway for travelers and airport workers.
