NIBONG TEBAL, Jan 20: Police have detained two men to assist investigations into the fatal shooting of a man believed to be the owner of a car wash along Jalan Besar Permatang Keling here last Saturday.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the suspects, both Malaysians in their 30s, were arrested separately at different locations within the state. Authorities are continuing investigations to establish the motive behind the deadly incident.
“The two men have been remanded until Jan 24 and Jan 25, respectively, to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said when contacted on Tuesday.
According to earlier reports, the victim, a local man in his 30s, was seriously injured after being shot in front of the car wash premises. He was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Initial police findings indicated that the victim was shot multiple times by an unidentified assailant. Police have not ruled out any possibilities and are pursuing further leads as investigations continue.
