Kuala Lumpur, Dec 11:  A burst pipe along Jalan Profesor Diraja Ungku Aziz in Section 17 this morning sent muddy water gushing across the road, forcing motorists to navigate through debris and murky floodwater.

Air Selangor has deployed emergency repair teams to the site, warning that the incident will trigger an unscheduled water supply disruption affecting several parts of the Petaling district starting from noon today.

The areas expected to experience temporary outages include:

  • Jalan 17/1A

  • Parts of Jalan 17/12 to Jalan 17/50

  • Sections between Jalan 19/13 and Jalan 19/26

  • Parts of Jalan 17/21

  • The SS2 neighbourhood

In a response to StarMetro, an Air Selangor spokesperson said repair works are projected to be completed by midnight.

“Water supply will be restored in stages once the distribution system stabilizes. Full recovery is expected by noon tomorrow (Dec 12),” the spokesperson said.

This is not the first time the area has experienced such an incident. In October 2019, an underground pipe burst along the same stretch, resulting in a sinkhole that swallowed a car, caused major traffic congestion, and cut the water supply to nearby neighborhoods.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the affected road where possible as cleanup and repair operations continue.
