Fire Breaks Out at PETRONAS Tower 3 in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, November 1: A fire broke out at PETRONAS Tower 3 (Menara Carigali) on Saturday morning, triggering an immediate emergency response from the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

According to authorities, the blaze originated from a restaurant located on the upper floor of the 60-story skyscraper, which sits next to the world-famous PETRONAS Twin Towers in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) area.

JBPM Director Senior Assistant Commissioner Hassan ‘As’ari Omar confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported.

“Our firefighters arrived promptly at the scene after receiving the distress call. The fire has been successfully contained, and operations are ongoing to ensure full safety,” he said in a press statement.

Photos and videos of smoke billowing from the upper section of the tower quickly spread across social media, causing public concern and temporary traffic congestion in the vicinity of KLCC.

Authorities have yet to identify the cause of the fire, but initial assessments suggest that it may have started in the kitchen area of the affected restaurant.

The PETRONAS Tower 3, also known as Menara Carigali, houses PETRONAS subsidiaries, international offices, retail outlets, and several high-end dining venues.

As of this afternoon, firefighters remain on-site to conduct ventilation and cooling operations, while safety inspections are being carried out to assess possible structural or smoke damage.

Officials have assured the public that the situation is under control, and the building will reopen once authorities confirm it is safe.
