KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 : Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has strongly condemned the interception of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) and Thousand Madleens To Gaza (TMTG) humanitarian ships  which included Malaysian participants by Israeli forces in international waters around 10:50 a.m. (Malaysian time).

In a statement today, Anwar described the act as provocative, unlawful, and a blatant violation of international law, stressing that detaining humanitarian vessels carrying aid for Gaza’s civilians is both inhumane and an affront to universal human dignity and rights.

“I strongly condemn this illegal and provocative action. Stopping humanitarian aid meant for the people of Gaza violates the basic principles of human rights and humanity itself,” Anwar said.

The Prime Minister demanded the immediate release of all Malaysian activists and volunteers, urging that they be granted full protection and treated with respect during detention.

“I call for all Malaysian activists and volunteers to be freed without delay, safeguarded appropriately, and not harmed in any way throughout their detention,” he said.

Anwar affirmed that the MADANI government will take all necessary steps to protect every Malaysian involved in the humanitarian mission, including engaging with partner countries and international organizations to facilitate their prompt release.

“The MADANI government will do its utmost to protect the lives of all Malaysians participating in this mission and will liaise with friendly nations and international bodies to secure their safe and immediate release,” he added.

The humanitarian flotilla was en route to deliver essential aid to Gaza when it was reportedly intercepted by Israeli naval forces in international waters a move widely criticized as a violation of maritime and humanitarian law.
