KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 (VoM) :  Malaysia has conveyed its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the government and people of the Philippines following the devastation caused by Typhoon Opong, which struck shortly after Super Typhoon Ragasa.

In a statement on Friday, the Foreign Ministry, known as Wisma Putra, said it is closely monitoring the situation through the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila. The ministry also confirmed it is coordinating with relevant agencies to determine possible assistance for the affected communities.

Internationally referred to as Bualoi, Typhoon Opong unleashed torrential rains and strong winds that have displaced hundreds of families across central Philippines.

“As of today, the typhoon was hovering over the central region and moving westward at a speed of 35 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h. It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by September 27, 2025,” Wisma Putra said.

The ministry confirmed that no Malaysians have been reported affected by the disaster. Nevertheless, it urged Malaysians in the impacted areas to stay alert and comply with the latest guidance from local authorities.

Wisma Putra also advised Malaysians to register or update their details on the e-Konsular portal (https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my) to ensure swift communication and assistance if needed.

For consular help, Malaysians in the Philippines may contact the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila at +63 2 8662 8200 or +63 917 864 0761, or email mwmanila@kln.gov.my. The embassy is located at Salcedo Village, 107 Tordesillas, Makati, 1227 Metro Manila.

Malaysia reaffirmed its solidarity with the Philippines, expressing readiness to support recovery and relief efforts.
