KUALA LUMPUR: The ASEAN Law Forum 2025 began today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), focusing on enhancing access to justice and strengthening legal cooperation within the ASEAN Economic Community.

The three-day forum, held from August 19 to 21, carries the theme “Enhancing Access to Justice in the ASEAN Economic Community: Bridging Legal Cooperation for Inclusive Growth.”

A special address was delivered by Ms. Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). She emphasized the importance of harmonizing trade and investment laws to support sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the region.

The forum gathers policymakers, legal experts, academics, and international organizations to discuss key issues including dispute resolution, cross-border trade regulations, and digital economy governance.

As ASEAN Chair for 2025, Malaysia has placed inclusivity and sustainability at the centre of its agenda. The outcomes of the forum are expected to guide future regional legal policies and reinforce ASEAN’s role as a rules-based community.
