67 PLKN 3.0 Trainees Undergo Light Weapons Shooting Training at Sungai Besi Camp
A total of 67 trainees from the first series of the 2025 National Service Training Program (PLKN) 3.0 underwent light weapons shooting training at the First Battalion Royal Malay Regiment Shooting Range, Kem Perdana Sungai Besi, on Saturday.
The trainees, who joined the program voluntarily, comprised 40 men and 27 women. The training session began at 9 a.m. under the supervision of 10 instructors from the Malaysian Army (TDM) and the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM).
A field report by Astro AWANI observed that the trainees started with a 25-meter light weapon calibration session, followed by a 100-meter shooting drill using an M16 rifle, which weighs 28 kilograms without ammunition.
Before the session, Captain Muhammad Shawal Mohamad Illias, the lead instructor, provided a briefing to the trainees and media representatives present. This was followed by a prayer led by Corporal Muhd Luqman Abdullah from the National Service Training Department (JLKN).
Earlier, on January 12, a total of 120 trainees—80 men and 40 women aged between 18 and 25—were enrolled in the first series of PLKN 3.0 for 2025. The Ministry of Defence stated that this included 13 individuals who registered via walk-in at the 515 Territorial Army Regiment Camp in Kuala Lumpur, representing diverse backgrounds in race, religion, education, and locality.
