16th International Conference on Humanities and Social Science (ICHiSS) 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) marked a significant achievement by hosting the 16th International Conference on Humanities and Social Science 2024 (ICHiSS) from August 21 to 22, 2024, at Hotel Everly, Putrajaya. This notable event was a collaborative effort between UPNM’s Faculty of Defence Studies and Management and the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Prince of Songkla University, Thailand.

The conference was officially inaugurated by Lt. Gen. Datuk Mardzuki Muhammad, Vice Chancellor of UPNM. This year’s theme, “Digital Transformation in Humanities and Social Sciences,” focused on addressing the global challenges of the 21st century. It emphasized the need for creative and innovative solutions to sustain human life amid limited resources and ongoing humanitarian conflicts.

ICHiSS 2024 provided a platform for discussing and debating research findings across various academic perspectives within the social sciences. Keynote speeches included a presentation by Datuk Muhamad Nasir bin Hj. Hamzah on “Reshaping Realities: Navigating the Digital Frontier in Humanities and Social Sciences,” and another by Ts Hj. Mohd Esa bin Baruji on “Empowering the Impact of Digital Transformation on Workplace Occupational Safety and Health Sustainability in Humanities and Social Science Disciplines.”

Additional keynote addresses featured Prof. Dr. Oclay Sert discussing “Digital Transformation in Language Teacher Education and Teacher Development” and His Excellency Dato’ Indera Dr. Khalid Ghanim Al Ghaith presenting on “Embracing the Digital Renaissance: Transforming Humanities and Social Sciences in the Digital Age.”

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials, educators, academic staff, graduate students, and industry practitioners, all of whom shared their insights and research findings.
