1,481 Military Personnel, Spouses Vote Early at PUSASDA, 979 Police Officers at Negeri Sembilan IPK

PORT DICKSON: A total of 1,481 military personnel and their spouses will vote early at the Army Basic Training Centre (PUSASDA) for the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) here, today.

According to the Election Commission (SPR), the voting process involving 11 channels takes place from 8 am to 5 pm.

All these security personnel will vote for the new representative for the Bagan Pinang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat.

The Bagan Pinang DUN seat sees a three-cornered contest involving its incumbent Abdul Fatah Zakaria from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Sheikh Junaidy Jamaludin from BERSATU and Nasir Raman from Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Meanwhile, a Bernama check found that military personnel and officers as well as their spouses began waiting as early as 7 am to fulfil their responsibilities as early voters.

The early voting atmosphere took place under cloudy weather.

Chief of Army General Tan Sri Azhan Md Othman is also expected to inspect the early voting process at PUSASDA at 11 am.

Meanwhile, at the Negeri Sembilan State Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), a total of 979 police officers and personnel will fulfil their voting duties for the Temiang DUN seat.

Assistant Superintendent Harminder Singh Pritam Singh was the first early voter at Channel 1 to cast his vote at the Negeri Sembilan IPK in Seremban this morning.

Also having voted was the Crime Prevention Board (LPJ) member at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Putrajaya, Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof, who was formerly the Deputy Director of Management (Administration) of the Bukit Aman Management Department and former Negeri Sembilan Police Chief.

The Temiang DUN seat sees a three-way contest between Ho Weng Wah (PH), Leaw Kok Chan from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Fazly Hamid (BERSATU).

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad inspected the early voting process at the Negeri Sembilan IPK before holding a press conference at the Nilai District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 11 am today.

The early voting process taking place at 38 polling centres across the state will close in stages according to location, with 18 early voting centres closing at 12 noon, two voting centres at 2 pm, while the remaining 18 will close at 5 pm.

A total of 16,884 military personnel and spouses, and 5,455 police personnel and spouses are eligible to vote in this state election.

The regular polling day for the state election is set for this Saturday.
