Amid the possibility of TikTok being outlawed in the United States, prominent YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, also known as MrBeast, plans to buy the site. TikTok, which is used by over 170 million Americans, faces a probable closure on January 19 owing to federal legislation requiring its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to sell its US operations by that date or risk a ban. MrBeast, who has millions of followers on many platforms, has stated his desire to intercede and make TikTok open to American consumers.

MrBeast says, “I just got out of a meeting with a group of billionaires,” in a viral TikTok video. TikTok, we are serious about business. This is my lawyer, right here. We have an offer waiting for you. We wish to purchase the platform. America deserves TikTok. Give me a place at the table. Let me rescue this platform, TikTok.

Furthermore, MrBeast turned to social media, writing on X, “Okay fine, I’ll buy TikTok so it doesn’t get banned.” The post received more than 36 million views from people. Following that, he published another post, claiming, “Unironically, so many millionaires have contacted me since I tweeted this. Let’s see if we can pull it off.

President Joe Biden signed a bill in 2023 to address national security concerns, which is the basis for the potential global ban of TikTok. The law gives TikTok’s Chinese parent firm, ByteDance, until January 19, 2025, to sell the app or face a ban in the United States. If ByteDance does not sell TikTok by that date, the app will be banned in the United States, making it unlawful for app stores and hosting providers to distribute it.

According to USA Today, YouTube celebrity MrBeast has 841 million subscribers across his channels and has hinted at purchasing the TikTok platform. MrBeast just announced Beast Games, a new TV program with Amazon Studios in which 1,000 competitors fight for a $5 million cash prize.
