President Joe Biden’s administration wants Ukraine to rapidly expand its military by hiring more soldiers and altering its mobilization laws to allow for the forced enlistment of individuals as young as 18.

A senior Biden administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private consultations, said on Wednesday that the Democratic administration wants Ukraine to lower the age of mobilization from 25 to 18. This would help Ukraine’s war with Russia, which has been going on for almost three years, by increasing the number of men of fighting age who are available to help.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the White House has sent more than $56 billion in security aid. They plan to send billions more to Kyiv before Biden leaves office in less than two months.

However, as time is dwindling, the Biden White House is emphasizing that Ukraine possesses all the necessary weapons and must significantly boost its troop strength to maintain its position in the conflict with Russia.
The source said that the Ukrainians think they need about 160,000 more troops, but the US government thinks they will probably need more.
