Veteran actor Kamal Bakar passes away

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actor Kamaruldzaman Bakar, often known as Kamal Bakar, died at Melaka Hospital about 1 a.m. today. He was 62.

His son, Hanis Kamal, announced the actor’s death in a Facebook post.

“Assalamualaikum, everyone. My father, Kamaruldzaman Bakar (Kamal Bakar), has passed away. “Let us recite Surah Al Fatihah for my father,” he wrote in the post.

Hanis stated that his father’s remains will be carried to the Bukit Baru Melaka Mosque at 11.30 this morning to be bathed and shrouded before being buried in the Bukit Baru Melaka Muslim Cemetery following Zohor prayers.

On Saturday, Hanis revealed that his father had been severely ill in the intensive care unit at Melaka Hospital for two weeks owing to stage four lung cancer.

The late Kamal began his acting career in the 1970s, appearing in dramas and films including Andai Itu Takdirnya, Orang Minyak, Suami Aku Ustaz, Pendekar, and Ratu Teh Pin. – Bernama
