UPNM Leads Strategic Industry Collaboration with Nine Companies at FOI 2025

PUTRAJAYA, November 5: In line with its UPNM30 Strategic Plan, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) continues to strengthen its commitment to research, development, and innovation (R&D) through the signing of nine strategic collaboration agreements with leading Malaysian industry partners during the Festival of Ideas (FOI) 2025 held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) today.

The memorandum exchange ceremony was officiated by UPNM Vice-Chancellor Lieutenant General Datuk Wira Arman Rumaizi bin Hj Ahmad, together with representatives from the participating companies, and witnessed by Dato’ Dr. Haji Megat Sany bin Megat Ahmad Supian, Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) of the Ministry of Higher Education.

The signed agreements encompass a wide range of strategic fields, including defense, renewable energy, automotive technology, geospatial solutions, innovative materials, smart agrotechnology, maritime communication, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced manufacturing. These strategic collaborations are expected to yield far-reaching benefits for Malaysia’s research and development ecosystem, particularly in strengthening the bridge between academia and industry through three key focus areas: Enhancing Research Capabilities Driving research aligned with real industry needs, especially in defense, renewable energy, and green technology.

Technology Transfer and Innovation Commercialization Opening new pathways for the commercialization of UPNM’s R&D outputs and accelerating the development of high-impact local products such as AI applications and industrial automation systems.
