Two OKT Flee From Kulim Court During Re-Arrest Process

KULIM: Two men who attended the Kulim Magistrates’ Court today for case mention, fled from the court premises when police officers were in the process of re-arresting them.

Kulim District Police Chief, Superintendent Syamsul Sinring, said the incident occurred at about 10 a.m. after the two Accused Persons (OKT), aged 27 and 31 respectively, had completed their case management mention and document submission proceedings.

He said both men attended court for the mention of cases involving charges under Section 324 and Section 353 of the Penal Code.

“On April 30 last, both OKT were charged at the Kulim Magistrates’ Court and were allowed bail pending the trial process.

“The first OKT was bailed at RM4,000 while the second OKT was RM3,000. The cases were set for re-mention on June 8, July 12, and today for document submission and case management,” he said in a statement today.

Syamsul said after finishing their proceedings at the court, both OKT exited through the back door before noticing the presence of police officers from the Seberang Perai Selatan District Police Headquarters at the front door of the court who were going to re-arrest them for other cases.

“One of them immediately fled within the court compound and went down via a pillar from the first floor, while the other re-entered the building before fleeing through the back route.

“Both of them fled through the back route by climbing over the fence,” he said.

He said police are now making efforts to track down both men.

Earlier, a 24-second video went viral showing a chaotic scene in the courtyard of the Kulim Court Complex, where a man believed to be one of the involved OKT was seen climbing over the fence before fleeing.
