Two local men were detained after setting a KL entertainment outlet on fire

KUALA LUMPUR: Two locals of Batu Caves were taken into custody by the police yesterday afternoon in order to aid with the investigation into the early-hour firebombing of an entertainment venue on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng on Thursday, May 9.

On Friday, May 10, at 3 p.m., the guys were taken into custody in a residence, according to Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

We are going to file an application for both suspects to be placed under remand on May 11. Investigations thus far indicate that there were no extremist components to the incident.

“The owner of the premises and the manager of the entertainment outlet have provided statements to the police, and the case is being investigated under Sections 435 and 506 of the Penal Code,” he stated at the Sentul district police headquarters on Friday during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

According to Rusdi, the 10 suspects—three of whom are foreign nationals with connections to the Israeli man accused of possessing a firearm will be freed on police bail the next week, and the three foreign nationals will be turned over to the Immigration Department for additional processing.

“They will be released before the remand period is up but can be recalled to facilitate investigations,” he stated. – Bernama
