Ankara, Turkey: Turkey expects the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and its affiliated YPG units to comply with the March 10, 2025, agreement in Syria, fulfilling all obligations outlined in the deal, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Friday.

Speaking at a joint Türkiye-Indonesia foreign and defense ministers meeting in Ankara, Fidan highlighted the importance of ensuring public order in Syria as a prerequisite for public peace and societal welfare. He also emphasized the need for a continued and effective fight against terrorism throughout the country.

The March 10 agreement, announced by the Syrian presidency in 2025, was designed to integrate the SDF into state institutions, reaffirm Syria’s territorial unity, and reject any attempts at division. However, authorities report that the SDF has so far made no meaningful effort to implement the terms of the deal.

Since the ouster of the Assad regime in December 2024, after 24 years in power, the Syrian government has intensified measures to maintain security and stability nationwide. Turkey has reiterated that compliance with the March 10 agreement is crucial for lasting peace and counterterrorism efforts in the region.

Fidan’s remarks underline Ankara’s continued focus on Syria’s political stability and security, particularly in areas controlled by groups linked to the SDF and YPG.
