WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has nominated State Department spokesperson and former Fox News conservative host Tammy Bruce to serve as the United States’ Deputy Representative to the United Nations. If confirmed by the Senate, she will hold the rank of ambassador.

Trump made the announcement on Saturday via his Truth Social platform, praising Bruce’s performance since taking over as State Department spokesperson in January.

“Tammy Bruce is a great, patriotic television personality and best-selling author. I am pleased to nominate her as the next US Deputy Representative to the United Nations,” Trump wrote.

Before joining the Trump administration, Bruce spent more than 20 years as a conservative political commentator and host on Fox News. She is also the author of several books critical of liberal politics, including Fear Itself: Exposing the Left’s Mind-Killing Agenda.

As State Department spokesperson, Bruce has backed several of the Trump administration’s controversial foreign policy positions, such as tightening immigration rules and deploying private military contractors to deliver humanitarian aid in Gaza.
