Today Last Chance for 70% Traffic Summons Discount

KUALA LUMPUR: Motorists have until today, Dec 30, to benefit from a 70% discount on police-issued traffic summonses, with authorities stressing that the offer will not be extended beyond the deadline.

The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) reminded the public through a Facebook post to take immediate action to clear any outstanding summonses using available payment channels.

“Today (Dec 30) is the final day to enjoy the 70% discount on police traffic summonses. Do not miss this opportunity to settle your summonses safely, quickly, and conveniently,” the department said.

The discount initiative, which has been in effect since Nov 1, was announced earlier by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail as a final incentive to encourage compliance before a new traffic summons payment system is introduced in 2026.

According to the minister, unpaid traffic summonses nationwide have accumulated to an estimated RM6.6 billion, highlighting the scale of non-compliance and the need for a more efficient enforcement and payment mechanism.

Authorities have urged motorists to make use of the final day of the discount period, warning that full penalties will apply once the offer expires.
