Three PATI Myanmar was arrested, across the Golok River in a canoe

PASIR MAS: The action of three illegal immigrants (PATI) Myanmar nationals on a canoe crossing the Golok River to enter the Malaysia -Thailand border was successfully detected by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) on Monday.

They were arrested at 8.30pm while the Malaysian Eighth Infantry Brigade was patrolling the area.

The Headquarters of the Second Division of the Malaysian Infantry (2 Division) in a statement said, the result of the inspection found that all three PATI aged 28 to 39 did not have valid travel documents.

“They are trying to enter Malaysia illegally to look for job opportunities.

“Also confiscated were two mobile phones and cash in Malaysian, Myanmar and Nepalese currencies,” said the statement.

According to the statement, the estimated total value of the seizure is RM1,062.71.

The statement added that the arrested illegal immigrants along with the looted goods were handed over to Rantau Panjang Police Station for further action.

“The operational team will continue to increase patrols and controls at the border to curb cross-border crime and smuggling,” he said.
