Putrajaya: The transition to the new year 2026 was marked by a distinctly spiritual atmosphere at Masjid Putra, where thousands of worshippers opted for a night of religious reflection instead of the usual celebrations of entertainment and revelry.

The “Gema Syukur 2026” program, organized by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), ran from the evening of December 31 into the early hours of January 1. The initiative was held in collaboration with agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), the Malaysian Islamic Organizations Consultative Council (MAPIM), MyFundAction, and Du’at Al-Falah, with support from Perbadanan Putrajaya.

Attendees participated in a variety of spiritual activities, including the recitation of Yasin and prayers for blessings, Quranic contemplation (tadabbur), the “Building a Compassionate Ummah” podcast, Selawat Munajat, and other supplications for prosperity and well-being.

As the clock struck midnight, the serene atmosphere of Masjid Putra resonated with prayers and Selawat, marking the beginning of the new year with reflection, gratitude, and spiritual grounding.

Organizers emphasized that the event offered a meaningful alternative for individuals seeking to welcome 2026 with introspection and renewed religious commitment.
