NIBONG TEBAL: A student in the Kerian district of Perak is the focus of an investigation by the Ministry of Education (MOE), according to its minister Fadhlina Sidek.

In addition, the case has been turned over to the authorities so they can look into it more thoroughly before acting.

The ministry is committed to addressing bullying in schools by establishing rules and enhancing policies in order to prevent situations similar to this one. The matter is our top priority.

“I want to remind the community, parents, and kids not to engage in bullying,” she said to reporters following her visit to the media centre for the Sungai Bakap by-election held at the Rakan Muda Complex in Jawi tonight.

After a video of a 13-year-old schoolgirl being repeatedly slapped by two 15-year-old schoolgirls went viral, authorities investigated and found that the incident happened on June 14 because one of the bullies was envious because the victim was too close to her boyfriend.

The victim filed a police report today, according to Perak police head Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, who also stated that the issue is being looked into in accordance with Section 323 of the Penal Code. – Bernama
