The decision of BN-PH cooperation in GE16 was decided in the highest committee meeting, said Tok Mat

SEREMBAN: The decision regarding Barisan’s (BN) collaboration with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the 16th General Election (GE16) will only be decided in the BN supreme committee meeting.

According to Sinar Harian, UMNO Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said, it is the party’s standard operating procedure (SOP) where every decision made is a joint decision.

“I am confident that the UMNO President as BN Chairman will bring this matter up in the BN supreme committee meeting because that is our SOP.

“So as long as there is no meeting from the highest committee of the BN leadership, many assumptions can be made. That is the policy of the BN party whether to face the election or any other policy,” he said when met by reporters after attending the opening of the 2024 Rembau Division UMNO Representative Meeting. at a hotel near here on Sunday.

He said this in response to the statement by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that BN will continue to work with PH to face GE16.

According to Mohamad Hasan, also known as Tok Mat, any BN component party that wants the matter to be decided early, can bring it up for discussion in the meeting.

“It is up to the parties because in BN, the members are not ‘personal’, the members are the party. The parties are UMNO, MCA, MIC and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).

“So if there is a party that wants to discuss it, bring it to the meeting. There is no issue. So we can discuss it and get a decision early on whether we want to cooperate or not,” he said.

He added, it can also prevent all parties, especially members of the party, from continuing to speculate about it.

“Instead of us continuing to speculate, it is better that we make a decision so that all parties and members are not confused,” he said.
