KUALA TERENGGANU: Pulau Warisan came alive this weekend as Temasya Tranung Kite 2025 (TEGAK) transformed the city into a vibrant celebration of Terengganu’s heritage, arts, and culture.

Held from Aug 8–10, the festival organized by the Terengganu Department of National Culture and Arts (JKKN) with support from the state government drew over 3,250 participants for a spectacular line-up of land and water events.

This year’s theme, “Emping Warisan, Silat Perjuangan” (“Flakes of Heritage, Silat of Struggle”), paid tribute to the resilience of the people and the strength of cultural traditions.

Crowd favorites like the Longboat Race and Decorated Boat Parade returned with new attractions in tow, including the Terengganu Gasing Leper championship, adrenaline-pumping E-Sports competitions, and the dazzling Lighted Wau (kite) showcase that lit up the night sky.

Visitors explored 30 booths from government bodies, private firms, cultural groups, and universities, while feasting on Terengganu’s best street food from 60 stalls.

More than just a festival, TEGAK 2025 became a bridge between generations, connecting rural and urban communities through the shared love of culture and tradition.
