PUTRAJAYA: According to the Education Ministry, Google’s US$2bil (RM9.4bil) contribution would boost efforts to enhance the artificial intelligence (AI) literacy programme for the benefit of instructors and pupils.

The government stated that the investment would also satisfy the expanding demands of cloud computing, and it applauded Google’s announcement.

“Programmes like the continuing Gemini Academy and Experience AI align with the goals of the Digital Education Policy (DPD), which is to create a generation of students who are competitive and proficient in the digital world.

“This is implemented through the provision of quality digital infrastructure, infostructure, and content; the active participation of strategic partners in an integrated and comprehensive manner from pre-school to high school; and the improvement of knowledge, skills, and values of students, educators, and education leaders,” the statement released today stated.

According to the Education Ministry, collaboration with industry titans such as Google is essential to improving the DPD’s implementation and guaranteeing the accomplishment of the country’s education reform initiatives.

In order to meet the growing demand for cloud services both locally and globally, Google announced today that it will invest RM9.4bil in Malaysia.

This investment will go towards developing Google’s first data centre in Malaysia and the Google Cloud Region. Additionally, the company will provide an artificial intelligence (AI) literacy programme for Malaysian educators and students. – BERNAMA
