Syrian Foreign Minister Al-Shibani received an invitation to visit Saudi Arabia
Asaad Hassan Al-Shibani, the foreign minister of Syria’s transitional government, has accepted an invitation from Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan to visit the Kingdom. This will be Al-Shibani’s first foreign trip since the ouster of former President Bashar Assad on December 8.
The Syrian Arab News Agency’s X account released a statement saying, “We look forward to developing strategic relations with Saudi Arabia in all areas.”
Al-Shibani has voiced hope about the future of Syrian-Saudi relations and highlighted the significance of strengthening strategic partnerships in all areas, according to SANA.
His words were: “I am honored to represent my country and look forward to this opportunity to enhance cooperation and dialogue.”
In an interview with Al Arabiya on Sunday, Syria’s new leader, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, stated that Saudi Arabia plays a significant role in the country’s destiny.
“Saudi Arabia has played a significant role in Syria’s future, and I am proud of everything it has done for us,” he stated. He spent his early youth in Riyadh and hopes to return.
Al-Sharaa also described recent Saudi remarks as “very positive” and applauded Riyadh’s efforts to stabilize Syria.
An advisor to the Royal Court led a Saudi team that met with Al-Sharaa in Damascus earlier this month.
